The introduction of MoneyGram's FastSend could appeal to consumers by removing friction from the remittance process

the launch of its FastSend service that enables consumers to use MoneyGram's website or app to initiate a transfer and enter a receiver's name and phone number.The service, which was developed as part of MoneyGram's strategic partnership with Visa and uses Visa Direct's rails, results in the receiver getting a text that they have funds available, at which point they can log in to MoneyGram, add their debit card, and have the funds added to their account "within minutes.

FastSend's minimal requirements to make a transfer could make it popular and boost MoneyGram's user base in the process. And the lower amount of required information could help MoneyGram match digital upstarts in the remittance space that often need The service can also have a network effect for MoneyGram because it could get new users for the firm. When consumers get a text that they've received funds through FastSend and need to set up a MoneyGram account to access them, they'll likely do so to avoid missing out on the funds.
