LATEST: Dow Jones plummets more than 800 points, extending a week of steep declines triggered by coronavirus fears.

FILE - In this Feb. 24, 2020, file photo trader Michael Milano works on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. The U.S. stock market opens at 9:30 a.m. EST on Thursday, Feb. 27.

Bond yields continued sliding in a further sign that investors were shifting money into lower-risk assets. The yield on the 10-year Treasury fell further into record low territory, to 1.25% from 1.31% late Wednesday. Gold prices edged higher. In California, health officials say a new coronavirus case could be the first in the U.S. that has no known connection to travel abroad or another known case, a possible sign the virus is spreading in a community.

The price of crude oil fell 4.7%. The price has been falling sharply as investors anticipate that demand for energy will wane as the economy slows. I love reading the Trump comments. Just shows me who knows nothing about how the market works.

Politics

That should be expected...

Politics Trump is horrible & disgraceful! Trump must leave because he's a plague that needs to go away for America to be ok!

The number of tourists decreases and the airplane does not fly. Declining economy will reduce factory production and reduce carbon dioxide emissions. No one is serious about climate change with a focus on the economy, so Coronavirus is doing his best.

There is a sale going on down on Wall Street! timetobuy

With extra punishment added for Trump’s reckless imbecilic actions leaving us less prepared.

Let’s not forget how trump is watering down the havoc the coronavirus is inflicting on the economy 👈🏼🤨

More people die from the regular flu every year than the corona virus! coronavirususa CoronaVirusUpdates COVIDー19

Markets seem to be moving from correction territory to WE’RE-ALL-GOING-TO-DIE territory.

I assure the dow would not be performing this poorly if the trump administration ACTUALLY HAD A PLAN

MoronInChief doing a great job makeamericasadagain

Close to a thousand points a day if things keep coming out. It's disrupting the planet.

As long as this incompetent administration is in office, markets will continue to tumble.

America will survive the outbreak because we’re so fat. We can survive months in isolation with no food. Genius

IMPOTUS Trump and his creationist flunkie Pence aren't really inspiring a lot confidence in the markets, we're noticing.
