The NFL and NBA are likely using the lack of live sports to gauge demand for their direct-to-consumer services and convert fans into paid subscribers

The testing kit includes a swab for consumers to collect a sample at home, which is overnighted to a certified laboratory for analyzation. Results are made available online within 48 hours, and if a user tests positive, Everylhealth is offering consumers free telehealth consultations with board-certified physicians.

The launch of the test could go a long way toward aiding US' efforts to ramp up wide-scale coronavirus testing. Everlywell is rolling out its test on March 23rd with 30,000 collection kits initially ready — and it's working alongside independent labs to scale infrastructure to the point where it can handle up to 250,000 tests weekly. individuals in the US had been tested for the novel coronavirus as of the morning of March 18th, with 2,000 cases pending at that time.

While the test comes with a $135 price tag, we think consumers are likely to turn to it as testing supplies in the US are scare — and the startup is working to provide its test for free, which could prime it for long-term success.
