Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey has announced she is ordering the closure of all nonessential businesses in the state through April 17 due to the coronavirus outbreak.

From CNN's Sarah Dean in London

The site will initially be able to accommodate 1,500 deaths, but will expand to hold more, and could ultimately hold all deaths across the West Midlands region including those not related to coronavirus, the statement said.

Uh.. I’m a Dem, but if you have Kay Ivey’s word... you have her word. She’s closed all the businesses that have large groups and cause spread. She’s recognized that closing elective surgeries in hospitals means even healthcare workers struggle... and she’s right... AL isn’t NYC.

Republicans don't give a damn about people. I only hope that she can't sleep at night.

Meanwhile, firearms stores & churches will remain open as they are deemed 'essential'. Alabama is screwed.

It's Alabama....can the entire State just remain closed after all this

2 months too late.

There would be a time when Alabama meant more senseful politics than at the White House.

How very California of them

She needs to issue shelter at home orders too.

Barely ?!

It’s a bit late for that but I suppose late is better than never.

Better late than never I suppose.
