“Cash is king. You have to get really granular about what your cash flow is and what need to survive and what you need to cut. And if that means you can’t launch that new SKU or you can’t do whatever new marketing program you wanted to do, it is really unfortunate but you need to cut it. What good is launching a new SKU if you can’t make payroll in a month?” Gore, the company’s CEO, asks pragmatically.

“The federal government’s lack of action so far has forced the whole industry to really operate in cash which creates a very unsafe environment for everyone…Dispensaries are absolutely a target for crime because criminals know there is a lot of cash on hand,” cautions Barry Saik, CEO of Greenbits, a software company that powers point of sale inventory tracking for 1200 retailers in 13 states.
