a Twitter thread by opinion writer Bari Weiss that characterized disagreements over the op-ed as a generational "civil war." he had not read the op-ed before it was published. The paper will hold a town hall for employees to address concerns raised by the piece
We thank our colleagues working on Publishing tools whose sick-out action on Thursday inspired our action for Friday. Yesterday, AG spoke to a standard that the Times applies when deciding whether to publish an Op-Ed, requiring that it be an "accurate, good-faith exploration of the issues of the day." In this, our publisher acknowledges that the Times implicitly confers some level of legitimacy to an Op-Ed simply by choosing to publish it.
I thought the point of op ed pieces was for people to express opinions that the paper didn’t necessarily agree with. Is the NYT staff demanding that for ALL opinions the NYT must provide a rebuttal or agreement? Or is just ones they don’t agree with? Who gets to decide?
Heaven forbid the NYT has another POV. What‘s happened to the media and free speech, seeking truth, or must it all be sanitized through the political correctness litmus test? The NYT no longer does it’s job but pushes agendas. All they need is cute little cheerleading uniforms
You let the people decide if they believe or not!!! Ya'll are proving Trump is totally right!!!! FAKE NEWS!!!!!!
