The famous Oba Market in Benin City, capital of Edo State, was Monday morning gutted by fire. The fire, said to have started at midnight, affected mostly those selling wears.First to experience such ugly incident was the Spare Parts Market at Uwelu, Santana Market, Ekiosa Market and now the Oba Market.
According to information, the fire, which began at about 12 midnight, raged till about 6 am before the Fire Service from Asaba, Delta State in conjunction with the NPDC and Nigeria Air Force fire services brought the situation under control. She said: “They called me around 1am today that Oba market is on fire. Reaching here, we could not find any of our goods.”Another trader, who deals in cosmetics, who simply identified herself as Habib, said she has lost her goods worth millions of naira.
