PrivacyMatters Not good news for photography lovers. I will miss the fantastic Zuiko lenses and the OM series, even the digital ones.

End of an era

Olympus has fallen

Thee_mavERIC Olympus has fallen.

That is sad. My first camera was the Olympus Trip

Olympus has fallen

OH NOOOO :( Olympus Has Fallen

Time to buy Olympus...not a camera, though

You better get in there bro might be some deals on cameras.

Amazing for such a strong brand. I still love my real cameras, but they're both Sony cameras, and it's becoming a niche market for enthusiasts only.

They still make cracking binoculars. Bought a pair last week.

Very sad news, I had a OM1 in the 1970s, great camera, but now no one seems to be buying camera's now we all have smartphones with decent photo & video capabilities

Progress guys! But if you're feeling nostalgic (and rich): OM1 and OM10 for sale!

Thanks for keeping us in the picture

I love my Oly and all my pics from the last few years have been with their EM10 MKII. This is sad news!

Oh! Olympus has finally fallen. Thanks for helping us keep memories.

Very likely this will end up similar to the buyout of Pentax by Hoya and then Ricoh. Olympus as a brand inside of Olympus is gone. Hopefully the new owners will keep the name & products alive though.

Why not go into R&D and sell the concepts to people like Samsung, Sony, Amazon, Google etc. To be integrated into their tech. Just an idea.

JervisCapital Facebook Microsoft or another status quo disrupter brand should buy out the brand and to reengage the market.

That is so sad.

Olympus had some awesome portrait lenses, sad for all Olympus owners out there

Olympus has fallen!

End of a legacy.

Sad to see this happen. Our first cameras were OM10 and OM2n. They were first to use stabilisation, mirrorless cameras, rear screens and created a new format for digital rather than trying to digitalise existing models.

Shame

Olympus has fallen

Making U turn after 84 years on the wrong path ! That's more than a life time for many people.😢

A trusted name!

Oh NO! Oh no! Oh No

Who do you think you are, David Bailey

Shame. Learnt on a Zenit E before graduating to an OM10, OM30, and OM20. Then an Olympus DSLR and an Olympus Camedia E20p. Something of a theme... Perhaps I liked the brand.

Sad sign of the times, loved the OM-1 and the classic David Bailey adverts!

Pity they didn’t put a clock, antenna and keypad on their cameras......would’ve made a mint!!

Such a shame, my first camera was the Olympus Trip 35. I owned so many of their cameras, always great optics.

ArizRizvi

damn shame

Everyone say cheese

Take a second to think about the images all of their cameras have captured. Happiness, friendship, kindness, fear, serenity, grief, shock, surprise, trust, remorse, sadness, pain, even suffering. Mind 🤯

jordiborras Sic transit gloria Olimpus

That is a shame... they made some of the best cameras for a while...

That is sad news... They had great cameras...

Taschetastic !!!!!!

My first camera aged 19 was a Olympus xa2 35mm camera. It was small/compact. I could carry it everywhere with me and I did. I have thousands of photos in the attic taken with that camera, and it sits in the attic too. Digital ruined 35mm.

My first SLR at college was an Olympus OM-10. Still got it :)

They are moving into the 'trip' industry

Oooh noooooo..

Gerard Butler is not going to be happy

Really shocking news. Think I need a lie down in a dark room...

I've still got a Trip 35 and an OM10 somewhere in the loft. I used to have a Pen F too - the all black version. That was a neat bit of kit. Half-frame - a proper Olympus cul-de-sac.

How times are quickly changing.

Wow

My favourite camera those old days

A fujifilm user, but sad news nonetheless. Let’s hope they come Bk.

That’s a crying shame

axelk

I loved my Olympus Trip!

Olympus Trip, brilliant little camera. I was inspired by davidbaily .

Though it says 'focus elsewhere' so that doesn't mean they are shutting down :) I guess Nikon, Canon and other companies have taken over the industry (not to mention smart phones) so it's nice for them to focus on something new before they go bankrupt.

Awful news. Loved their cameras

Olympus has fallen?

They can't compete with Smartphone cameras

That is sad

📸😢

Sad. They made a good product back in the day. Very popular in my high school photography class

Shame. My first camera was an Olympus

Where are they going to. Business of no return

Most new phones have a 4K camera.
