Apollo Global Management is known as one of the most aggressive investors on Wall Street. It's making moves that could soften that image.
Apollo currently has about 1,450 employees and nearly 500 investment professionals working from its 15 global offices, and manages more than $300 billion in assets. But Apollo has offered virtual meditation sessions, along with children's book readings, to make life a little more bearable for its employees and to facilitate team bonding.
Much of the cultural change, though, isn't so much focused on Apollo's investing approach, but on the environment the firm creates for its own employees. The firm hosted 11 summer associates this year, Apollo told Business Insider. The class was 55% women, 36% minorities, and 9% veterans. He's also addressing senior-level hires, too, helping add several newly formed roles at Apollo: a full-time communications lead ; a head of citizenship ; and aApollo is also in the market to hire a head of impact investing, another first for the firm.Big investors like Apollo and Carlyle are clamoring for a piece of the $30 trillion ESG space.
