Customers, restaurants, grocery stores, and suppliers should dispose of any Thomson International onions they have purchased. Onions are being recalled in the US and Canada due to a salmonella outbreak that has sickened at least 516 people in the US and Canada. The US Food and Drug Administration is investigating a salmonella outbreak linked to Thomson International red onions. The FDA has identified 396 cases of salmonella across the US. As of Friday, 59 people had been hospitalized.

Peel the skin then wash onions under running water then dry with paper towel first. Make sure cutting board, knife and you hands are washed clean then cut the vegetable.
