Your 401(k) might be invested in private prison companies. Here's how to find out (via CNBCMakeIt)

. The Prison Free Funds tool has been in the works for a while, but it was fast tracked after the killings of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor by police and subsequent protests against police brutality across the nation, Andrew Behar, CEO of As You Sow, tellsBehar says he has received dozens of emails from users in recent weeks asking for a way to help them divest from the prison industrial complex.

To use the tool, type the name or ticker symbol of the fund you're invested in into the search bar and press enter. It then provides a letter grade for the fund based on how much of the fund is invested in companies profiting off of the private prison industry or the border industry.

MakeIt What a sad /inhuman way to earn profits. Slavery still Exist in US.

MakeIt If it makes money fantastic!

MakeIt Good.

MakeIt We need more prisons. Look at Chicago.

MakeIt Again.... this is an investment network not a woke virtue signal channel right?

MakeIt Who cares CNBC? Stop pushing the politics of whoever the liberal is who is choosing these ridiculous stories and misleading headlines you keep posting. Bloomberg is winning people over from CNBC because they aren't biased in their reporting.

MakeIt As long as it makes money who the hell cares

MakeIt Yea it’s called corporate America, the biggest prison in the world, you never get the true value of your talent and make someone else rich.

MakeIt If it keeps the criminals away from my family, I will invest more.

MakeIt Yeah but prison stocks have been bleeding bad for the past 5 years. Why would any money manager put money there I've no idea.

MakeIt Rising crime rates should be good for business. The left is their biggest profit maker.

MakeIt Isn't 40k is money you get for retirement?

MakeIt Is that what they call banks now.

MakeIt As long as it keeps making me money I have no issue with it

MakeIt Good we need more

MakeIt I hope so! Great long term investing.

MakeIt If you’re going to strip down police someone has to do the work. That would be where a third party has to come in. Or we get rid of all prisons and just let everyone go wild.

MakeIt Hmm. I have never thought about but prisons are good investments. Always will have tenants.
