Shadow Housing Minister Jason Clare says the government needs to do more to support the building industry, after a report forcasted a significant drop in the number of homes being built. Master Builders Association on Monday said there was a 27 per cent fall in home building looming.
“Their forecast today shows instead of building 170,000 homes this financial year, it’s more like 125,000,” Mr Clare told Sky News. “If there is a massive drop in the number of homes built then that means there is lots and lots of jobs lost in the housing industry. “This is an industry that employs about one million people. “That’s why I have been arguing for months that the government has got to pull their finger out and do something here.
