Grenfell cladding company tells inquiry it did not check the design met fire safety requirements

The company which installed cladding blamed for fuelling the Grenfell Tower fire has told an inquiry into the blaze that it did not check the design met fire safety requirements.

Mr Bailey said his firm was deceived that the insulation used on the project was safe for high-rises. "Celotex made a big, big deal about their products being suitable, specifically designed for building over 18 metres.A Class 0 fire safety certificate is the minimum requirement for external surfaces of buildings.

He said"there is a raft of layers with Harley, with the architect, with the fire consultants, with building control to ensure that the... design is compliant."

Have we now got to the 'Its okay to rewrite history horizon ?' WHY IS THIS TAKING SO LONG ?

Let me tell you now, the enquiry will not be able to pin the blame on one person. The entire management teams, from the client to the contractors and all associated professionals will have an element of blame!

Of course not! Surprise! They rely on the designers? Building control, but They don't take responsibility for anything!

I take it you couldn't find a diversive headline for today so you thought ( I know let's bring up Grenfell) DefundTheBBC

I’ll check if my kids jumper is too warm. I’d do the same if I f**king knitted it. Then again, there was no financial gain from any part of the action.

So does that mean that it is culpable?

Watch and report this BBC -

Sounds like an admission of guilt to me. They literally admitted they were at fault.

Any reason why the Birmingham stabbings aren’t mentioned on the News? I wonder why !!!!

Didn’t they change it from what the residents picked? Still no one being made accountable for this atrocity!!

To be fair people not evacuating a burning building was the thing that should be the focus ,the fire was on the outside of the building for the most part, the cladding meant it spread but basic fire safety says get out and stay out

Difficult to deny.

I remember a building inspector once at a local council, who was so far in with the builder that anything got passed and lost at will! Where there is money involved people will break the rules and until CEO'S, council leaders and employees, including government ministers.....

Councils fault surely

Hi Beeb, you didn't really report much about the vote against implementing recommendations from Phase 1 of the inquiry, in fact, you didn't have a story on it on BBC News channel at all. Why is that? Is Tim Davie that scary? Is the BBC now the official Tory Propaganda Channel?

Bollocks! They knew full well! They did it to save money

Hang

This seems like a “you had one job” moment

So does that make them culpable? Or is it the builder’s fault for not following plans correctly? Or it the architect’s fault for not designing with correct (at the time) safety measures? Or is it the Council’s fault for not properly inspecting the work before signing it off?

What did the building regs say at that time and what was the specification

Off with their heads

Oh it's fine. It was only poor people and the Government voted not to implement the recommendations of the inquiry. What do they care? The building will be flattened anyway & luxury apartments built on its site.
