European equities lag U.S. stocks, but there are wild differences within the region

The German DAX is down 3% for 2020, lagging the S&P 500’s 3% gain but performing far better than its European peers. The French CAC 40 and Italian FTSE MIB are down 16%, the U.K. FTSE 100 is off 20% and Spain’s Ibex 35 has slid 27% this year.
