Energy Minister Angus Taylor dismissed industry claims he was fuelling 'policy uncertainty' with the government's new gas plan, which sets an April deadline to decide whether industry or government will build the new power station | CroweDM

Australian Energy Council chief executive Sarah McNamara delivered a swift rebuff to the government’s scheme on Tuesday on behalf of energy generators and retailers, saying there was no reliability threat to justify the new intervention.

"AEMO only assesses reliability on very strict technical grounds – they make no assessment of price impacts," Mr Taylor told"Our assessment is that there is a problem with reliability but the bigger problem is with price – because prices will go up if you take 1000MW out of the market and you don’t replace it.

"The oligopoly prefers Liddell to close so they can capture the higher prices that follow, which is exactly what happened in Victoria," Mr Broad said. "The idea would be that we should firm up some renewable sources as well, but we’re waiting to see what happens by April."While Snowy Hydro has taken on $3.5 billion in debt to fund the expansion of the Snowy Mountains hydro-electric scheme, it has government support to build Kurri Kurri as well. It also runs the Colongra gas-fired power plant on the NSW Central Coast, with a capacity of 657MW.

CroweDM This man is so stupid. Gas is not a renewable resource. Koalas. Koalas are renewable. We should be burning koalas to boil water to turn turbines to power our medieval society.....or right wing politicians. They are inflammatory....incendiary....otherwise worthless.

CroweDM SMH full of rubbish. Now unreadable.

CroweDM I believe we should never have privatised our electric power, ports and infrastructure. I believe, it would be good to have the government involved in creating electricity again. Break up the cartels, bring in real competition.

CroweDM How the hell is anyone supposed to take this policy serious with this blokes mug ?

CroweDM State ownership of the means of (electricity) production.

CroweDM Common sense policy will be a disaster for the left but I refer everyone to an article in the Financial Review yesterday explaining how California shows that Renewables are a disaster.

CroweDM Three great lies.......1) Tax Cuts will lead to higher incomes and more jobs 2) Scrapping of penalty rates will lead to more jobs 3) Australia needs a Gas Lead recovery. The Libs are the worst that can be for Australia now or ever. Plus gas effect on jobs is.....

CroweDM The gas plant is the distraction. As is the so called cheaper consumer & biz prices. It’s all a ruse. A troll. The truth is that this is all about green lighting environmental destruction from fracking for big export dollars for mates like shifty Nev. The media seems incapable.

CroweDM Yawn...looking after donors for a change, methinks!

CroweDM Just another announcement from ScottyFromMarketing

CroweDM 🤦‍♂️

CroweDM What’s the bet this piece of work ends up getting the government to sell the plant we pay for (because no intelligent life form will build one in 2021) to his brother for $1?
