This $500 million concept megayacht was inspired by Japanese anime and designed to look like a swan — take a look at the Avanguardia

Avanguardia, which is Italian for vanguard or avant-garde, is a seemingly fitting name for this uniquely shaped yacht that prominently features a swan head-like control tower above the rest of the ship.

According to the Rome-based design studio, the yacht was inspired by several 1970s and 1980s Japanese anime series that depicted the head of robots as command centers. But in terms of the specific swan component, its designer drew inspiration from a single anime: "Casshan", a series that featured a robot swan character pretending to be a woman. The neck of the swan head-control tower would be extendable and movable.

If a client wanted to build the Avanguardia, Lazzarini Design Studio estimates that the total cost will come out to around $500 million.Get your weekly recap of all things electric vehicles, airlines, and more. Raise taxes on the wealthy.

There are so many better uses of money than this trash lol

For the people who think a regular super-yacht is not ostentatious enough...

Probably won’t be that practical and comfortable compared to conventional design of similar cost.

Wow very nice. But for half of billions dollars. It should fly.🛥🦢

Wow I like this idea

after party on this after anime con.

Ew

Somebody who has far too much money should find a better way to give it away

Funny, kinda cool, yet stupid. Swan 🦢 boats are not new either. 😝

Nice but out of my price range 😂 I'm going to have to keep my Lazzara grand salon for now.

Which anime? Keijo

ClwtrBkAtty Ugly.

Tax the Rich!!

How would you even get up there anyway!? I see no stairs! The inside of the neck could be bad news for claustrophobia! Maybe I am thinking to small?

I would rather be on mine... Always! 💛 Pandemic Human Desorders

If you buy this you are required to make a $100 million donation simultaneously paid out in bonuses to public school teachers in the US.

Kanye will use its design to make the next Yeezys

Wow. It does look like a swan.

$500 million, oh wow. I love how the rich can flaunt their wealth for overly eccentric yachts. Amazing.

“We’re not gonna make it, are we? ... People, I mean.” — John Connor in Terminator II

I generally despise conspicuous consumption, but much like performance cars and motorcycles, this ship is stunningly beautiful.

So nobody going to ask the important question?

is for the type of humans that need to analyze their priorities.

Waist of designer hours. Ugly and impractical.

Where do I land my helicopter FFS?

yussif_samed Let’s stop hailing these unnecessary crafts and promote money being spent on eliminating child poverty, developing medicines to cure cancers and other such diseases.

and it runs on about 200 gallons an hour
