Stocks opened mostly higher Wednesday, a day after the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite snapped four-day losing streaks and the Dow Jones Industrial Average ended a three-day string of declines. The Dow DJIA, +0.59% rose 130 points, or 0.5%, to 27,418, while the S&P 500 rose 0.1% to 3,319. The Nasdaq Composite COMP, -0.

25% lagged behind, falling 0.2% to 10,947. Shares of Dow component Nike Inc. NKE, +10.31% soared more than 9% after the athletic-apparel maker late Tuesday reported quarterly results that beat expectations. Shares of Johnson & Johnson JNJ, +1.63% rose 2% after the company said it launched its pivotal global Phase 3 trial of its COVID-19 vaccine candidate.
