"We put 52 pages out, and we're going to see progress," she said. "We just have to do things differently than we've been doing them."Before 2020, PwC each year compiled an internal diversity update focused on three data points: the percentage of women and people of color on its US leadership team; the percentage of women and people of color in its overall workforce; and the percentage of women and people of color in its new partner classes.
"People became more comfortable talking about diversity and inclusion, but not changing their behaviors," she said. "So this was really about taking a step back and realizing that in order to create change, it has to be really data-driven.
Bravo to PwC
PwC probably looks pretty good compared to Apple, which juices its diversity numbers by hiring black people to work at the lowest level in its retail stores, but not at the higher levels in corporate.
