Pressure is mounting in all three branches of government to strip blanket protections that big tech companies have long enjoyed.Section 230 — a federal law that Shields social media companies from liabilities that would otherwise reshape or crush their businesses — appears closer than ever to being rewritten.

And just days earlier, Supreme Court Associate Justice Clarence Thomas, one of the court's conservative members, wrote an unusual opinion arguing that courts should reinterpret Section 230 to give tech companies fewer protections.After years of threats, the US government appears closer than ever to stripping away one of Big Tech's biggest shields.
