Developers love the MacBook Pro, but some may stay away from the new model for a while until the software they use every day can run on Apple's powerful new chips

Docker is not committed to any specific timeline on its point, but Berkholz says it's "committed to doing the work." OpenFaaS' Ellis, for example, says that he wouldn't want to spend on the $1,000-plus on a new Apple laptop that would actually slow him down while using Docker. He says that he's considering following some of his friends in ordering a laptop from Dell running the Linux operating system instead.

Ultimately, as a fan of MacBooks, he hopes and expects that all of these issues will be addressed relatively quickly. If they can't, however, he'd consider moving to Microsoft Windows, which actually supports Linux via a tool called"This is something that will work out in a few months, but for now it's just too risky," Cornelissen said.
