Nasdaq asked the SEC to let it require that listed companies have women and diverse directors on their boards

Nasdaq Inc. aims to require listed companies to include women and people of diverse racial identities or sexual orientation on their boards, the exchange operator said Tuesday.

Nasdaq filed a proposal with the Securities and Exchange Commission that would require listed companies to have at least one female board member, plus one board member from an underrepresented minority or who is lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender. Companies that don’t meet the standard would be required to explain why not.

Diversity in race and sex is being advocated like it is diversity of thought. This will actually make America weaker in the long run.

This is nuts. Force to hire someone because of how a person look is in itself discrimination.

The CEO when the board asks him to take one for the team

Why did WSJ turn comments off on this article I guess they know how unpopular this idea actually is!!

This sort of meddling based on race, gender, sexuality is absolutely vile and unfair!

Choosing someone for their sexual preference or gender is even more wrong than excluding them because of it. Quotas are never the answer, they just cause more division and hatred.

Doesn’t seem legal lol. Why would the SEC allow that

Sounds discriminatory doesn't it ? Would an all woman board be okay or an all black

redonculous

Whether they're the most qualified or not

Nasdaq should be sued for tortious interference. They should either buy shares and speak up at shareholder meetings or STFU.

Er, women need to become BRICKLAYERS , CONCRETE POURERS & STEEL WORKERS FFS! 99% of these jobs are done by men, where are the women who demand equality? All queing up for the air conditioned offices of fortune 500 directorship jobs? 😂 😂 😂

Conservatives women Don’t mix! They think women cheat to get to their good jobs! NASDAQ needs to diversify naturally without edict!

We are sliding away from family and community (care & love) into a system of control by our corrupt wall street/dc gang (aggression and exploitation). Greed is good. This is where Trumpism is coming from. The pie is only so big, time to share or Trump will be back. Fascism?

I mean really? What does that have to do with anything? This is an example of stakeholder capitalism. Let the shareholders decide what it wants for their company not some third party.
