Tesco is to pay back the £585m in business rates relief accepted from the government to help it weather the pandemic, months after paying investors hundreds of millions in dividends after sales soared.
Quite right too. Who were the fools that gave them the money in the first place? Sainsburys in a bind. They already divvied up their blood money windfall to shareholders, reckoning they were doing the ethical thing. The 'ethics' of capitalism, that is.

The fact they've made off like bandits over the past 9 months and their quarterly projections at +18% vs PY & 2020 budget w/ an uptick in home delivery which reduces staff overhead & they stand to end the year with massive additional profits,so why not now look good and give back
