A wild feud between VW and one of its suppliers led to a 'spy hunt', an apparent suicide, and now a $500 million lawsuit

Prevent has accused Ralf Brandstätter, brand CEO at Volkswagen, of personally inciting Adient and Lear to boycott Prevent.Former Volkswagen supplier Prevent sued the automaker in the US on Monday, accusing the automaker of driving it out of the US market.previously reportedAt the time, secret recordings uncovered how "Project 1" was set up to "demolish" Prevent.

According to the complaint, Volkswagen acted knowingly when it severed itself from Prevent in the US, as the company didn't directly initiate this process itself; rather, the complaint suggests that it incited the two larger suppliers in the production chain to do so. In the complaint, Brandstätter was accused of telephoning managers at both Adient and Lear to convince them to boycott the group. The claim says that VW was trying to boot Prevent out of the US market, and the Bosnian group is holding Brandstätter personally responsible as the mastermind behind the action.
