ABC has handed out a second pilot order for Costner's drama 'National Parks,' after being unable to film the pilot last year amid the pandemic

The Disney-backed broadcast network has handed out a pilot order toThe pickup marks the second pilot order in two years for the project from A+E Studios and Disney's 20th Television. ABC last year was unable to film the pilot amid the pandemic and extended options on the drama from showrunner Aaron Helbing .revolves around the small group of elite NPS agents as they solve these crimes while protecting these national treasures. Costner, Helbing and Jon Baird will co-write the script.

"Our partners at ABC, 20th Television and A+E Studios have given me a great environment to step out of my comfort zone and deliver something special," Costner said of writing the project. Sources note Costner, who currently stars in Paramount Network'smarks ABC's latest collaboration with A+E Studios. The division is part of the A+E Networks family, which is co-owned by Hearst Communications and Disney. ABC also has David E.
