HOUSTON - Texas energy companies failed to pay another $345 million for electricity and other services incurred during last month’s cold snap, the operator of the state’s grid said on Monday.
In all, electricity prices on the state’s wholesale market soared by $47 billion for the about five-day period when cold weather drove up demand and generating plants failed, estimated Carrie Bivens, a vice president at Potomac Economics, which monitors the Texas power market. The state-supervised operator acts as a clearinghouse, collecting cash from marketers that buy power, and sending it to the companies that furnish electrons to its grid.

I’m all for providing humanitarian aid, I even gave $ support. But I do not want one penny from the Federal government to go to paying any of these astronomical electricity bills. Not one damn cent!!!
Biden needs to seriously look at NATIONALISING assets such as power generation and HV transmission , water & sewerage , hospitals & health insurance , roads and rail and ports . Take the profit motive out of the equation for larger good.
Tx , supposed to be first world .... but is in reality more like 3rd world . This is what happens when power generation and power transmission ( HV grid ) are in the hands of robber barons who line their own pockets instead of putting 'profits' into maintenance and reliability.
