Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s daughter Nurulhidayah paid RM8.6mil to buy a stake in a hotel management firm, but the deal did not go through, says MACC man.

Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission investigating officer Muhammad Fazli Zulkifli said the payment was made to hotel management firm, Ri-Yaz Assets Sdn Bhd on June 30, 2016 through law firm Lewis & Co. The law firm was implicated in Zahid’s corruption case. “The money was also meant to help Ri-Yaz settle their loan with Exim Bank for buying a Bali hotel,” Fazli said.

However the witness said Nurulhidayah’s bid to acquire Ri-Yaz shares did not materialise in 2017, and she then demanded the RM8.6 million deposit to be refunded.To a question by deputy public prosecutor Ahmad Sazilee Abdul Khairi on whether Nurulhidayah was a “proxy”, representing any charity foundation in Ri-Yaz, the witness said she was not a representative, based on the sale and purchase agreement.The officer also told the court that RM9,350,265.
