PUTRAJAYA: A former director of a company providing boat rental services has been arrested for allegedly giving bribes of RM312,350 as a reward for being awarded a sub-contract.

The 64-year-old was arrested at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission headquarters on Wednesday evening.

It is understood the sub-contract for vessel rental is meant for oil exploration which is part of a RM1bil project.Meanwhile, a director of the same company was also called to assist MACC investigations. The suspect will BE charged under Section 17A of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act under corporate liability.

This will be the first time a case is brought under this section since it came into force on June 1,2020.
