PETALING JAYA: There were no sinister motives when the government advised the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to proclaim a state of Emergency, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin told industry players on Thursday (April 15).

At a closed door meeting organised by the International Trade and Industry Ministry, Muhyiddin told major industry players that Malaysia will adhere to the rule of law and the Emergency will not be used to violate human rights, private property and other legal rights.

“Now, more than ever, connectivity should be at the core of all our priorities. For us to accelerate economic recovery, the private sector must embrace new technologies," he added. He pointed out that the government has launched the Digital Transformation Roadmap and started on the billion ringgit National Digital Network action plan.

He called on the private sector to work with the government to foster an enabling ecosystem for the business community to thrive and continuously improve domestic processes to attract investors.
