A notice sent to Western Australia’s mining companies let them know a snap lockdown was coming for Perth before the public found out.

“The Premier will shortly announce a three-day lockdown starting tonight for the Perth and Peel region. FIFO will still be allowed,” the chamber’s notice to mining companies read.People took to Twitter to express outrage and confusion at mining companies being told about the lockdown before the rest of the state.

“Twiggy Forest is more powerful than McGowan in WA so no surprise the mining companies had been consulted first,” another said. “We know that advice had been given from the WA Chamber of Minerals and Energy to mining companies that WA is about to enter a three-day lockdown,” Karvelas said. “We note that the advice from the WA’s Chamber of Minerals and Energy, the two mining companies they consult, is that this is about to happen.”
