Florida's new law prohibiting businesses from asking whether employees or customers have been vaccinated against Covid-19 may take a toll on its cruise business.

The CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. said Thursday it could cause the company to suspend Florida departures and move its ships elsewhere.

But the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says it will not allow cruise lines to resume normal operations unless at least 98% of crew members and 95% of passengers have been vaccinated. DeSantis had earlier cited freedom and privacy concerns as the primary basis for his executive order, arguing that the implementation and enforcement of vaccine passports would"create two classes of citizens based on vaccinations."

Smart move. Florida is going to be a hot spot for covid along with Texas

Good bye! Our freedoms come first.

Last year, when people on cruiseships were stuck in their rooms for months, not able to dock, at start of pandemic -why take a cruise where both crew and passengers are not vaccinated? Florida not allowing cruise industry guarantee a safe virus free vacation is beyond stupid

Cruises are terrible anyways. Bad for people, bad for the environment... and just plain lame.

We should all avoid Florida.

SAFEMOON

Thank God!

Let em

FACT Check .... I saw the president of Norwegian Cruise lines on TV and he is blaming the CDC for his inability to conduct business in this country not the Governor of Florida I know the truth use to matter but agenda matters more to news organizations now.

Good.

Florida is a joke. They want the population to suffer. As long as GOP gets re-elected. Regulations don’t matter. Just throw out the book. Let the ships sail to the horizon full of ill people. Just like before. Ugh. DeSanties is a fat doof

Omg these responses are ridiculous. Port elsewhere all cruise lines. Florida is not the be all for this. Keeping people safe is what matters. GovRonDeSantis just wants money. The Mouse masked up to him. So can they.

Screw them then !!

👌🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Thats good news

If they are requiring COVID vaccine then why not require other vaccines as well-

Cruises are for fat and lazy people

Florida has turned into Trumpworld

Yess, I think Louisiana or south Carolina could benefit from more cruises. Florida has enough going on. Lol

It should be up to the cruiselines not the government. It's this thing called the free market let them do what they want. the company and the customer don't need the government fucking qit them more then they do already

It’s ok. I’m avoiding Florida altogether

MarielloRichard Money speaks.........

What difference does it make when vaccinated or not you can still contract and spread the virus.... We truly are in the stupid age still.. Post Trump.

It's a shake down. DeSantis issues an exec order limiting the fed gov's ability to impose mask requirements/'vaccine passports', knowing full well this will create chaos with the cruise lines? Bring peanuts to watch the fights. KUDOS TO NCLH CEO for telling DeSantis to stick it

As the WHO quietly changes OPINIONS and rushes to agenda drivers !!! WHO are these clowns. We have not even been shown a single piece of scientific evidence masks work !!! Thread count - virus particle size = sand into chain link fence !!

markos Smart move. Have been on 15 plus cruises and won't return unless vaccines required.

Good!

SenRickScott I guess what you say Rick and what Florida says are two totally different stories. Not on the same page Ricky boy.

I hope more companies do this

About time . Punish states who fund the big lies.

That'll hit the wallet. Good.

So what other U.S. port is capable in accomodating cruise liners AND that would wave covid vaccination checks? I'd call their bluff.

Vaccinated people can still get the virus from other vaccinated people, as well as non vaccinated people. The difference is vaccinated people are supposed to experience milder symptoms. Forcing people to 'show their papers' in order to travel is scary. I applaud DeSantis.

Maybe they could stop near Mar-a-Lago and allow exclusive, quarantined cabins in the solid waste compartment. The vessel can evacuate the filthy contents into the ocean every morning.

We saw this coming a mile away. They need to do everything they can to make it safe. DeathSantis ban in vaccines checks will stop that. Florida isn't the only place with a cruise terminal.

Everyone should avoid Florida

My cruise (Oct of 22), will leave out of Norfolk. So there!

There are two classes. Vaccinated and not. I prefer to be around the vaccinated class.

Follow science; stand strong.

Yeah, I’d like to see them go somewhere else and find the infrastructure Florida has provided. Good luck with that.

CNN let’s go after Florida now because they have great republican governor

Fantastic

** CNN silently fist bumping **

They didn't need a flu shot check before and they will not need one now.

RonDeSantisFL is winning the race to the bottom and is trying to bring everyone down with him.

Bluffing from a position of weakness. Bad idea.

The unintended consequences of Republicans rushing to Legislate their internal fears away!

Good. Sounds like a smart way to protect their business

🙄

Cruise ships are done.

Lmao so they don't like money got it

They need customers and Florida has them. They will be going to Florida

Stick to your principles Mr CEO!!

Good for Florida!
