The founder and Chief Executive Officer of Kerae Records, Uche Elendu, is of the view that the government is not maximising the potentials of the music industry.“It goes without saying that the attention of the world is on Nigeria right now as far as music is concerned. However, it saddens me that the government seems not to understand how much they could gain by supporting stakeholders in the industry.

Elendu also stated that he was excited about the release of an Extended Play album titled, ‘Ascent’, by Mmzy, an artiste signed to his record label. He said, “The EP which features musical appearances from artistes such as Teni D’Entertainer and Terri is the first ‘offering’ from the stable of the label this year and it is meant to thrill his fans and help them focus on their goals in a post-pandemic world.

“The EP is an exciting and bold project that I’m very proud of. ‘Animal’, a song off the EP, is already doing very well. It was inspired by the endemic corruption in the country. However, it also came with some challenges. The artiste’s Instagram page was taken down, and some stations were actually threatened for playing the song. Some people even went as far as flagging the video on YouTube.
