Chan: What was the most challenging part of a start-up?
Theron: When I first started, I hugely underestimated the art of building a team. Finding the right talent is really challenging, and brilliant people are already in closed positions or own businesses. You need a great team to achieve great success; it's the heart of a successful operation.Theron: I think with a start-up, you are constantly building a team. Your first team might take you to the first five million sales.
Chan: Knowing what you know today if you could go back in time, what is the one piece of advice you would give to yourself as you embark on your career? Theron: I've always been an innovative entrepreneur with a gut for business. However, I feel I should have taken business and leadership courses. I genuinely underestimated the challenge of being a good leader, particularly during the bad times.
