Kevin Foote has been appointed head coach of the Melbourne franchise and will work alongside former Reds coach Nick Stiles

Former Queensland Reds coach Nick Stiles says he has unfinished business in Australian rugby after agreeing to come on as Melbourne Rebels general manager of rugby under new head coach Kevin Foote.

“I’m a very passionate about Australian rugby and I probably felt I did have unfinished business around trying to contribute to that growth. Going down to the Rebels and working with the Victorian rugby community, I’m very excited about.” Stiles first met Foote when he was at the Western Force in 2013 and brought the former South African sevens representative in to do some consultancy work at his team in Japan.

“I’d say I’ve got a very good relationship with the players. When I say good I mean it’s a respectful relationship, but having played the game I know what it’s like to be a player. My passion will come through in my coaching.Ryan Martin is the team’s new attack coach, having recently been in charge of the New England Free Jacks in Major League Rugby in the US.
