The New South Wales government has given some assurance construction activity will resume at the end of the month amid increasing pressure to ease restrictions.

The decision to force construction workers to halt their work across Sydney is set to cost the state more than $1 billion a week.

The lockdown is due to end on July 30 but there is concern over the number of infections within the community and particularly cases recorded outside of southwest Sydney after missing links of transmission have emerged.
