The Business Council of Australia has thrown its weight behind an emissions reduction of between 46 and 50 per cent by 2030.

Business Council of Australia president Tim Reed says the group's proposal is "ambitious but achievable".Big business has thrown its weight behind a 50 per cent emissions reduction by 2030 to avoid a "costly and damaging" game of climate catch-up.

Australia in 2015 committed to an emissions reduction of between 26 and 28 per cent below 2005 levels by 2030. It wants the government to commit to a net zero 2050 target and increase shorter-term goals to provide investment certainty and incentives. This would allow for the development of new technologies to address abatement in sectors where it's harder to cut emissions.

Congratulations to the BCA for taking this lead and the LNP must follow for our childrens' future😏

Strange the complete turnaround of the BCA, it was only 2 years ago they were saying the opposite to todays recommendation , yet nothing has changed. Climate change was as real two years ago as it is today and renewables just as viable

Too little. Too late.

BCA running to fast to catch the train.

Hahaha. My have times changed this is what they said when the then opposition had a target of 45% . If 45% is economy wrecking then surely 46-50 will be apocalyptic 🤷‍♂️👇🏾
