Newly appointed NSW Treasurer Matt Kean has announced a $183 million stimulus package, describing it as a “shot in the arm” for western Sydney residents through the construction of 1400 new social houses.

The newly appointed NSW Treasurer Matt Kean said the $183 million stimulus package would be a “shot in the arm” for western Sydney residents through the construction of 1400 new social houses.

He said the works would generate 1100 new construction jobs and help “turbocharge” the construction sector that was hit during the state’s lockdown. A $100 million skills and training package was also announced as well as rental assistance that would be provided to more than 900 people.“We want to help them get through this and onto the other side, better than they went into it.’

Mr Kean said the investment would “future proof” the state’s workforce and help them bounce back from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. The new Treasurer was appointed after his predecessor Dominic Perrottet was promoted to Premier after Gladys Berejiklian resigned from the leadership role after the state’s corruption watchdog said it was investigating her.Read related topics:

Excellent idea. Replace the public housing Pru Goward sold to developers, economic stimulus and industry support in one go. Win win win.
