t 73, showing up to work five days a week in the shipping department of AIS Inc.—an office pod manufacturing company he’s been with for nearly two decades—was starting to be a grind for Bob Adams. He kept having to request Fridays off for doctor’s appointments to help keep his nagging diabetes, high blood pressure, and cholesterol issues in check.

Despite the stereotypes, most older workers are still eager to learn. Some two-thirds of workers over age 50 are interested in additional training, says Weinstock. In March, Microsoft took a unique step toward creating an age-inclusive workplace when it hosted a free, virtual event called “Include,” and the company invited Dychtwald to discuss what employers can do to be more age-inclusive. Among the actions Dychtwald suggested: flexible work schedules, sabbaticals, and retraining for older workers.

“We’ve seen firsthand how important it is to learn from each other and embrace multi-generational workplaces,” says Ty Breland, chief human resources officer at Marriott International. “Why do we place such a large emphasis on those who have been with us for a longer time?” asks Ermatinger. Well, he says, some ships can take five to eight years to build. “It’s critical to have longevity in your workforce,” he says.

Damn, the younger generation doesn’t accept our shitty terms. Should we raise them to moral standards? No let’s exploit a tired and already exploited working class generation.

This is only going to be bad for younger people. Older executives will stay in roles longer, destroying motivation of younger employees as progression is reduced.

Boomers continue to be the best of current generations.

Older workers are more willing to put up with the abuse of crappy jobs while younger works demand fair working conditions and fair pay for the labor they provide. This is now when we show the world that we deserve a living wage and will get it

Did you mean: Capitalist find a different group to exploi as more employees start to question the system?

It's no excitement in work... like why can't I sleep in NYC but work in DC🤔 why can't I work on the high speed infrastructure that would get me back and forth quick enough?

Hi, I am a structural engineer from Iran who have many ideas. I have summarized some of my ideas on my page. I want to work with companies and investors. Do you want to work with me?

The entitled, social media raised, left-woke sissy millenial generation is the downfall of the West.

i think you meant to say “as young employees take a stand against abysmal pay and working conditions, companies decide to exploit one of society’s most vulnerable groups”

Now that they're desperate, they turn to older workers after shunning them for decades. I feel bad for elders who need to take shit jobs after retirement. That alone is major policy failure.

I just wanna say a big thank you to Dennismayson9 I was nobody until a friend of mine introduced me into investing with you, Since then it's been nothing but financial 💰 Success for me. I will invite my friends and family into your company Dennismayson9 you are the best💯🤞

Hire older people 👍🏻👍🏻

👍🏻👍🏻

Payment is beyond ridiculous, who wants to work just to make enough money to survive .. we not slaves, we want to live financially comfortable.

You mean younger workers are less willing to accept bad work conditions with no benefits and sh*tty pay for it...

I did my research properly Dennismayson9 I must confess nobody handles Bitcoin mining better than you. I'm privilege to have invested my BITCOIN with you sir Dennismayson9 I'M GREATFUL. You are indeed one of the best. Thanks a million🤗🙏

Just when I thought all hope was gone that was when I meet Brian Phillip who made my little $700 became something worth more. Now I don't have to depend on my paycheck. Can't thank you enough Shelia_A_Gooch

It’s because the younger generation wants to be in musicals in Broadway. I have several friends paying for their kids college education. I ask what their major is. The respond with music / dance/ theater

Seriously? Then why did my 62 year old husband have to take early retirement and get a part time retail job? He searched for 3 years, thousands of interviews and no one would take a second look at a boomer. I call BS.

That’s what happens when you hand kids everything, they don’t work.

The Millenial Generation is a bad product of leftist and globalist culture. The consequences will be very, very dear.

Would you care to guess if an old man wrote this or not? Go ahead, guess!!

We are seeing this in Silicon Valley. Younger generations are not showing up Day 1 of offered employment, or they resign after a year or less. The 'seasoned' generations certainly have stronger work ethics and loyalty than most in younger generations.

New generation, ahhhh

Late stage capitalist US collapse will be worse than Soviet. Can't outrun the legalized corruption. Keep in mind, by the time Soviet Union fell, they were basically capitalist. Corruption will get u every time

How young is that bald guy?

Quit forcing old people to work by not making retirement affordable, and start paying livable wages.

'Companies exploit older workers who cannot afford to retire because younger workers will no longer work for less than a living wage. Also capitalism is bullshit.' FTFY.

So enslaving old people. Gotcha

*”As younger employees quit and demand being treated as people instead of labor bots to be used, abused and abandoned.” Fixed it for you for free this time. Next time I expect a check or wire transfer

They don't pay correctly.

If anyone needs help paying their credit card bills send me a dm I’m a Powerball lottery winner and I’m doing this to help as many people as I can during this holiday season Send a dm if you need this help .

Useless is a better word.

Younger workers are refusing to take abuse from employers so they are turning to those in our society most in need of financial support, the elderly. Its not a great thing to hire 75 year olds to work until they die instead of providing good pay and benefits to attract workers.

That’s what young people have always done. I must have worked 10 different jobs in college. They get bored, dislike coworkers, hate the hours, easy to find a different job. Low wage jobs are a dime a dozen.

Fantastic...! 😒 In my European 'Socialist' country older people get their state retirement pension at 67... 'Great America' force them to work until they die...Jungle economic neoliberalism at it 'best' isn't it...?

Himalaya Exchange believes that you should be the master of your wealth!

Lots of places around here hiring retirees because they can work for sub-poverty wages because it's a second income, and frankly they need the money.

Young people have not been taught any values. Poor parenting.

Last week, the stories and reports were about how young people aren't leaving the job market, Boomers are. Pick a narrative.

JulieMorcomb Yes embrace our older workers but make sure you pay them the higher wages & give them all benefits that they deserve. Period.

Sad - older workers can’t afford to retire anymore. :/

Not reading this bullcrap. GenX here to say that this narrative is bullshit that only serves to make money for the ultra-rich.

Yes. This has always been true. It's only now being talked about & broadcast publicly.

'Older employees welling to have their labor exploited for lower wages than younger workers' Fixed it

Yeah, we boomers are used to jobs sucking…😆

Who knew! 😀

cool ...i am 65 and grow pot
