Travel stocks and aviation groups are experiencing yet more setbacks as the Omicron wave delays WA’s border reopening and the EU imposes travel restrictions on Australians | hijessicayun pwhatch

Flight Centre CEO Graham Turner is looking at his legal options against the WA government after it again delayed reopening its border.“If he announces the borders will open in March or April, we won’t get the case heard before it’s already open. But if he announces July or December or something like that, we’ll have a much greater chance of success [of] getting into court before borders open.

Former Qantas chief economist and aviation consultant Dr Tony Webber expects Australian and global airlines will be constrained for the following two-three years amid significant losses and large debt loads. Before the pandemic, WA services would have made up 10-15 per cent of both airlines’ domestic flying, Mr Webber estimated. “It is a decent chunk of their business, but it’s a very profitable part of their business,” he said. “Perth routes are very high yielding.”

“We are hopeful that this is a passing phase,” wrote Macquarie Securities’ David Fabris and Gabrielle Emerick.

hijessicayun pwhatch No sympathy for Qantas while Alan Joyce is at the helm. His behaviour towards staff is disgusting.

hijessicayun pwhatch Big deal

hijessicayun pwhatch Leave WA alone. The way the rest of us are going they may be Australia's only chance to keep the economy going soon.

hijessicayun pwhatch No one would be surprised about the restrictions on Australia...just look at the infection rates...
