Australian and New Zealand business leaders have called for the Ardern government to bring forward a relaxation of quarantine rules to help trans-Tasman business.

New Zealand, which has had some of the world’s toughest COVID-19 restrictions, has commenced reopening, but it will be months before requirements to self-isolate on arrival are dropped.

“We have seen Australia move on psychologically to live with the virus and New Zealand is in the process of moving to that position,” he said. Salesforce chief executive Pip Marlow – who has been isolated from staff in New Zealand – said it wanted to be able to see growth in business travel in both directions between Australia and New Zealand.
