In mining the history of the local company that has since become international with the Kraft Heinz merger in 2015, KDKA writes there are “a lot of theories on how Heinz landed on 57, from it being a combination of his and his wife’s lucky numbers to the psychological influence of the number seven.”“The famous number 57 on every bottle of Heinz Ketchup is all a lie. This one might sting a little for Heinz Ketchup fans.

The iconic phrase "57 varieties" is actually meaningless -- Henry Heinz just liked how it sounded and figured it'd be good for marketing. The H. J. Heinz Company started out in 1869 near Pittsburgh as a manufacturer of horseradish. It later expanded into pickles baked beans and ketchup, which it became famous for. The company merged with Kraft in 2015, making it the fifth largest food company in the world.
