“We call them ‘ghost trucks’ because they have no logos on them, oftentimes no license plates, no DOT number,” says Jamie Fleming with Local 147.

According to the Teamsters, not just anyone can hop behind the wheel of a mixer truck. Drivers must adjust the speed of the drum as road conditions change.“These big projects are going to really regret the decision to use this poor quality concrete because they’re going to have to end up redoing it. It’s going to crack in a few years,” argues Fleming.

Projects like Sound Transit’s light rail have been using the nonunion concrete. Chris Elwell, Sound Transit’s Director of Labor Compliances, says it’s a decision out of their hands. Contractors decide what concrete is used. Elwell wants to assure those concerned that every load is rigorously tested by professional inspectors.

Fuck unions. That is all

I hate to be that guy but Since when do concrete truck drivers think they deserve 110k a year and medical for life…. I’m sorry guys but this isn’t a skilled trade like wireman fitters plumbers elevators ext. you’re being extremely greedy & its fucking everyone

Wouldn't be ghost trucks is the damn drivers would get their asses back to work. They are affecting 15,000 workers lives both union and non union. The treamster on the news talking on the news like she knows shit about concrete when she doesn't know anything.

Cement companies are leasing mixer trucks to other companies. Non union and union workers are driving. Getting state spec concrete from cadman batch plants run by local 302.

How's that even possible!?

fuck scabs, never cross a picket line

Just hope those inspectors aren't the same ones who checked the West Seattle Bridge.

Government says it’s out of their hands. Pretty sure witnessing a crime as trucks with no plates or dot numbers come onto their sites is well within their ability to do something about. And I’m sure the police have been told to look the other way.
