Citing difficulties finding employees, Pearl Brookpark Car Wash has closed after 57 years of business.

CLEVELAND, Ohio –

“It just got to the point where we have the customers and the cars, but we don’t have enough help, ever since COVID,” said business owner Dan Spencer Sr. in an interview with cleveland.com. “It just got to the point where it wasn’t worth staying open. We were starting to get close to not breaking even.”

Spencer opened Pearl Brookpark Car Wash in 1965, when he was 26 years old. He and his team transformed the space at 5133 Pearl Road, tearing down the former Pearl Road Lumber Company and building their car wash. In addition to car washes, the business also offered detailing and restoration services for vehicles. In the past, it also sold gas.

Corniest thing I ever heard

So sad

The real culprit is technology. Automated car washes are being built all over the place. They are more energy efficient and waste less water.

This sucks! They were a great car wash! Great service
