This is in the same week that they are giving 'artists' 350 quid a week to sit at home in bed. These jobs should be for Irish teenagers, students, and unskilled workers

Ireland is too corrupt for any tourist to want to come here. Diversity killed Irish culture

As if service wasn't bad enough, they will now speak pigin English. No thanks

Existing housing Crisis, several inflation, upwards of 100k Ukrainian refugees, normal immigration and now they are gonna push for more arrivals... Are they absolutely stupid...

As someone who worked for years in bars and restaurants it's about time they started paying staff properly and, most importantly, treating them better. Pub and hotel owners are by and large greedy sods.

Perhaps less of the rip offs in the hospitality sector here is what’s needed to save it !

I feel sorry for the people who come to Ireland to spend they hard earned holidays money, this place is a rip off and have nothing to offer that worth paying the price.

Zero hour contracts on minimum wage in many cases. Why would there be an issue filling such motivating positions? 🙄

Cheap labor they mean

It’s more a accommodation/housing issue than anything else. Students head home to the parents house now when term finishes they can’t afford to stay on in cities or live in tourist areas.

I guess they will be giving these jobs to the Ukrainians too?

Ukrainians

Headline should read......cheap labour needed to be imported into Ireland, foreign workers needed for exploitation with no unions and shit wages.

Where will they live? Have to do a Patrick Guilbaud on it back in the day and house them - no one is coming here to work on our low wage & high living cost - hurts the economy Paschald - TourismIreland Failte_Ireland

PUP just finished, anyone on PUP do yourself a favour and leave the country. Those in control of the country don't give a SH1T about you

Now, is too late. Many places only opening part time or not at all.

Total exploitation. Earning pittance in the hospitality sector and it could grind to a halt again, if there is any more restrictions imposed due to 'variants' arising. NoJobSecurity

No fuk off hospitality Ireland. The root of our problems is expensive housing/rent/hotel prices. And the Irish hospitality owners making massive profits and doing little work, just driving around leafy South County Dublin in their expensive cars. My money is being spent abroad

There was a time when young people and students did the lowly-paid part-time jobs. They wouldn't be demanding 'fair wages' because: a. it was a part-time job & they were lucky to have it, and b. they weren't going to be making a career out if it. Can we not get back to that?

Aka as importing cheap labour,

We have almost 45000 people coming off the PUP this week and going straight onto the dole. We don't need an international recruitment drive. We have plenty of recruits here already.

I wouldn't holiday in Ireland ever again, overpriced and overrated hotels with underpaid staff, staff who do their best on ridiculously low wages, while the owners laugh at everyone who pays for it.

And maybe a complete ban on Airbnb, in order to free up rental accommodation for those seeking long term rental . In the town I live in, people can't work here because they can't get any accommodation and the hospitality establishments can't get staff then because of it!

I was in Rome recently for over a week staying in several hotels. *Every* hotel, restaurant and bar had Italian staff, with the exception of one room service person in one hotel.

Globalism is exploitation.

Luckily and conveniently our generosity towards Ukrainian refugees will soon have them held as hostages to slave labour.

Don't college students do part-time seasonal jobs any more? Don't they need the money, or do they all instead jet off to the States on a J1? Notions.

Why would you come to Dublin when you can barely earn enough in the hospitality sector, to pay for rent?

It wouldn't be necessary if the greedy hospitality businessman paid fair wages and offered good working conditions.

Where Oh Where can we find some people to fill these low paid jobs? Lemme think...🤔

Maybe the hospitality sector should make contact with kathleensmythl & AaronMansworth of TrigonHotels on how they are using inclusive recruitment policies to fill their vacancies - AnneRabbitte AbilityCork
