A subsidiary of one of the largest U.S. wind energy companies has been penalized for the deaths of at least 150 eagles at its wind farms in eight states. It’s illegal to harm eagles under federal law.

It’s illegal to kill or harm eagles under the migratory bird act. However, a wide range of industries — from energy firms to manufacturing companies — have lobbied for years against enforcing the law for accidental bird deaths.

There are an estimated 31,800 golden eagles in the Western U.S. with an estimated 2,200 killed annually due to human causes, or about 60% of all deaths, according to a study released last week by leading eagle researchers from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and other entities. Charging documents said company representatives, including ESI’s president, were warned that eagles would be killed if the company built two wind farms in central and southeastern Wyoming, and also knew about a risk to eagles when they authorized the repowering of a New Mexico wind farm, about 170 miles from Albuquerque.

ESI agreed under a plea deal to spend up to $27 million during its five-year probationary period on measures to prevent future eagle deaths. That includes shutting down turbines at times when eagles are more likely to be present.

In the end everything is about profits even climate change. That is why you will own nothing and be happy. Build back better is just to enslave humanity.

Green power.

In other words they pay an annual fee to continue to kill eagles, right?

Clean energy 👍🏼

So they will add a Bald Eagle tax to consumers now. *wipes hands*

Your news brand is damaged because you chose to help hide the Hunter Biden laptop story and the corruption evidenced it contained. Shame. AP

Let’s just use nuclear

Now do a story about refineries that burn their offgas as it comes out the stack which cooks a lot of migratory birds.

robertpatrickT2 Why are they getting a bulk discount for eagle murder?

They committed suicide…..

Ok, now what? Keep killing the birds or shut off the windmills?

😢😢😢

Any development of the company at any time must bear in mind a rule - all development must not be at the cost of harming life (human or other species). In the final analysis, all careers ultimately serve the purpose of life.
