Six candidates were interviewed in Sandton, Johannesburg, for the two positions on Wednesday before commissioners went into deliberation to select the best two nominees. Noncembu is North West Regional Court President, who has also been acting as a judge in various high courts. JSC co-spokesperson Doris Tshepe made the announcement about the two recommended candidates at a media briefing on Wednesday night.

“As you are aware the Judicial Service Commission has interviewed six candidates for two vacancies in the Eastern Cape Division of the High Court in Gqeberha. After the interview and deliberations the Judicial Service Commission has voted to advise the President to appoint the following two persons: Miss VP Noncembu and adv Potgieter SC,” says Tshepe.
