Investment aims to create 75km of new, dedicated bus lanes to the north, west and south of the city, as well as 54km of new cycling and walking infrastructure

The National Transport Authority has announced details of plans to invest €600 million in 12 new transport corridors in Cork, aimed at increasing the number of people using public transport in the city fourfold as well as increasing the number of people walking and cycling around the city by one third.

BusConnects Cork is the National Transport Authority's plan to improve bus services throughout Cork city and suburbs. These include re-designing the network of bus routes in the city, transitioning to a zero-emissions bus fleet, rolling out a new bus livery and implementing a new ticketing system. The NTA said a series of community forums will be established to engage people and groups at a local level for each corridor and surrounding areas, as plans for the project are developed, designed and progressed. It said further details regarding the Community Forums will be announced in June.

No more bikes lanes..barely used already

And now cork be like Dublin, congested while half the road goes unused

Welcome & well overdue. Hope they're properly enforced so that drivers can't simply block people from using them.

The greens are running Ireland. Lower petrol and diesel prices and stop robbing people blind

FF and FG will regret allowing the greens to run Ireland. This madness will come back to bite both parties

Making a congested city even worse

Will this be before or after the completion of the North ring road, the Cork Luas and the return of Michael Collins?

Hopefully the greens get fucked out soon

No doubt to be opposed by motorist groups who are terrified of being inconvenienced in the slightest, despite it being for the greater good. And the project will then be shelved. This country!!
