Dr Peter Boylan says the National Maternity Hospital plan would see ownership by a 'private, Vatican-approved company'.

Dr Peter Boylan has hit out at ownership of the new National Maternity Hospital by a"private, Vatican-approved company".

He believes the only way to guarantee independent clinical care is to build the hospital on State land.Sinn Féin and the Social Democrats have criticised plans to build the new hospital on land owned by St Vincent's Holdings, over fears care may be influenced by a Catholic ethos.ownership of the land will not affect healthcare and that terminations will continue to take place there.

Okay - build it elsewhere

FFS Build the National Maternity Hospital in Athlone. It's central and more accessible to the larger population. It's only an hour from Dublin (M6). Traffic congestion in Dublin is a big problem and getting worse. Save lives and move to Athlone. It shouldn't be political.

Typical public sector clown, never do anything in the pursuit of the perfect solution, its time to just move on and build the feckin hospital, babies of Ireland deserve a new facility to be born in.

good on him

This whole thing could go south yet. In fact it already has. Is there an urgency for it or not? If there is let’s get it done and don’t worry about the bloody nuns. Tell security not to let them on the premises. They’re not giving away their land and very few of us would or do.

How much longer is this fruitcake going to be allowed periodically assail us with paranoid delusions to further derail a much needed hospital? He pops up every 6 months with this garbage - why is he given airtime?

But the law of the land says abortion etc. is legal. What's the issue? He hates Catholics?

Not a chance - big exaggeration, bishops dont like babies.
