The introduction of a vacant homes tax next year is in doubt after the Revenue found a “low level of vacancy” across all counties.

Paschal Donohoe, the Minister for Finance, will consult with his government colleagues ‘before any further decisions are made’ on the issue of a vacant property text

The self reported ones? bloody ridiculous carry on if anyone considered this to be potentially accurate, several councils have not a single property on their registers, simply impossible.

The government's overriding objective seems to be to drive up property prices at any cost. Vacant property taxes, crackdowns on Airbnb landlords and dereliction etc etc would run counter to that objective, which explains why the government resists such measures.

Hundreds of cronies flying like pheasants at a shoot. The property tax beaters flushing them 😂😂😂😂

Load of bollix!!!

Disgraceful. We can see it in every town in Ireland for decades!!!!

Minister for vulture funds & developers is only doing his job!

That's bollox lads and ya know it, might help those investment funds sitting on properties eh?

It’s all about cost of introducing the tax and potential returns. What’s the vacancy rate countrywide ? 8% ?

Looking after the lads again...

It's obvious to the dogs in the street the dereliction problem all over Ireland currently but Paschal chooses not to see it

As well as finding low levels of self-reported derelict and vacant homes, if you believe the official numbers there are no: - Rent increases above rent caps - Ghost bids by real estate agents - Misleading adverts by real estate agents - Short-term lets in RPZs

Liars. They should look harder.
