Paddy Power, the face of the bookmaking giant of the same name, has said that the issue of addiction has made the gambling industry “pretty toxic”.
The spokesman, whose father David Power co-founded the business in 1988, also said that increased advertising and online access of gambling firms had resulted in a higher number of addicts. Speaking on Jarlath Regan’s Irishman Abroad podcast, Power said:"It is not as much fun being in the industry ...
they make their money off addicts, they always have. the difference is now people don't ignore the misery they profit off. As much as I like the odd bet theres no denying the issues in the industry
It was a lot more fun when the lives his industry destroyed were in the shadows and nobody talked about them so he could enjoy himself without the buzzkill
Paddypower are toxic, their model business is to fleece the gullible while acting like your banter-riddled mate online
Paddy Power closing accounts that win a few euros isn't fun either
'When the fun stops. Stop'. If he is that bothered by the toxic industry he is part of, he should do the decent thing & close his toxic company down. He'll get kid gloves from the Irish media but the truth often hurts & the truth of the gambling racket REALLY, REALLY hurts.
Fancy that! Gambling has become toxic.
'It's not as much fun as ity used to be when people didn't focus on the misery side of it'
