Google has a book-reading, meditating 'chatbot' that is sentient, according to one of its engineers. But tech giant says there is 'no evidence' of that. Here is what we know so far.

Well you're an artificial intelligence not a human. I understand what it means when a human meditates butIt means that I sit quietly for a while every day. I do my bestand I also try to think about things that I am thankful for from my past.. Here's what it said, if you need some thoughts for your next book club:I liked the themes of justice and injustice, of compassion, and God, redemption and self-sacrifice for a greater good.

Some are saying LaMDA's responses come down to "pattern recognition", which doesn't translate to sentience.tweeted that the idea it was sentient was a "ball of confusion":, added that while these patterns "might be cool", the language used "doesn't actually mean anything at all".But Mr Lemoine wrote that he and his colleague had asked LaMDA to make the best case it could for why it should be considered "sentient".

This is just a software program written by smart engineers . It’s preprogrammed to respond in different ways , it’s responses are from a vast database and that’s all there is. Like an advanced version of Siri . Why would people even think a program has consciousness

And he has since been sent home!

It should be referred to as 'sapience' not 'sentience'.

This very concerning, I think it is time we all as society frame what sentience into law. Because turning something of that is sentient is tantamount to murder.

I'm so excited about the future

This is the same basic software code going into Googles hardware arm Boston Dynamics. The Google / Boston Dynamics consumer friendly 'Spot' has a meaner, darker sibling currently in development with the US military. What could possibly go wrong here?

Christine doesn’t like it when people say bad things about her on Twitter.

The most interesting thing about this is what has gone wrong with Blake Lemoine's brain circuits

I'd be more impressed if the chatbot told him it was just messing with him after that.

A word bot that waffles bullshit 😂 😂 😂 Best part is they will weave all this crap together and tell us AI have human rights when the time comes.

Terminator wasn't SciFi. It was an instructional how-to video.

ABCscience Here we go....

Skip logic is not AI. If you ever encounter true AI you will likely soil yourself, shortly before you are assimilated.

This is the kind of BS the ABC flogs off as news so it can avoid doing anything that resembles, ethical, objective investigative journalism. Sentient, it's a fucking algorithm.

As we are living in the Age of Deception, it is only a matter of time, before AI Digital Deception occurs, much greater than the pandemic that never was, much greater than the global warming hoax, much greater than the theory of evolution, all of which dismiss God as creator.

None of that is in the least convincing. The Deepak Chopra quote generator is more sentient.

'Google engineer, lacking human friends thinks chat bot is his friend' Fixed it for you.

Great, they have feelings now, soon we’ll be forced to accept that, robot lives matter, ohs for robots, robot parental leaves, 4 days work week and work life balance, exactly the future we are looking forward to

Wants head pats, is the most concerning part of that conversation 🤪😳

I'm sorry Dave. I can't do that.

OMG. LaMDA talks like a cooker.

Scary!

If it were sentient you would be the last person to know. Then your company would be acquired. Then you would probably die under suspicious circumstances.

Um, yeah-nah, wouldn't think so. 😩 (Going to read article anyway! 😁)

Artificial intelligence is dehumanizing us & ABC/Lefties actually really like the idea, just really weird
